Hiiii hello!!!! Welcome to my Loki fanpage / shrine / whatever you'd like to call it~
Loki is a Marvel character created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Larry Lieber, based on the irl Norse god of the same name. Brother to Thor and son of Odin, he's the god of mischief and lies. Loki has been in a plethora of comics and movies, mostly as the villain. I absolutely adore him and would die for him!!!!
I only got into Loki this past May, 2023. Crazy, I know! To realize it has not been that long at ALL. With that being said, it's important to note that I haven't grown up with him; I got to binge watch/read all Loki media at an extremely rapid pace, so my opinions about things may be warped because of it.
I knew almost nothing about him prior to becoming a fan. Really, my knowledge was next to zero! I think I'd seen some screenshots of the show and thought it looked kind of cool, but not enough to actually check it out or anything.
Anyway, as to not drone on too long about how things came to be, back in May I decided to watch a bunch of Marvel movies and shows, and Loki was just one of many. But something about him really stuck with me; I just absolutely fell in love with the character and the way he worked and suffered and existed so painfully.
I think I was lucky to have started like this, because our current Loki, the one in the show, is obviously the best version of himself. Character development ftw!
After I saw the show, I was really interested in him and what made him a villain. So I watched the movies he was in, which helped flesh him out even more and further stapled his place as a permanent resident in my head. What's nice about this order is that even when he was doing his little evil things, I could think to the show and appreciate that they let him become more than the twisted, trapped little guy he originally was. That's why I feel so lucky as to have watched it in the order I did, though it would have been nice to follow his journey since the beginning.
After I consumed all the MCU Loki content I could, I turned to the comics, which OHH MY GOD they are FANTASTIC. I must admit, they are FAR better than the MCU can and will ever do for Loki. The comics have done him so much justice. I feel so absolutely grateful that there are people out there that understood and cared for loki in such a deep, meaningful way. No matter what Marvel does with him in the future, I can rest easy knowing they have done such an intricate, beautiful service to him in the form of the 2011-2014 comics.
As of now I'm trying to read all comics that feature Loki, starting from Journey Into Mystery! Pretty crazy. I must admit, it's hard to read them, just from the sheer lack of depth in each issue. Not that I blame Stan Lee for his plots, but compared to our current state of comics, these are far more exhausting to get through. But enough of that; I can complain about it more on its respective page lol.
Anyway, I persist. It's a fun ~journey~, and it's nice to see how they started with him. Someday I'll catch up, and then I can call myself a true Loki fan. Hopefully.
Anyways, I've got so much to say about every era of Loki - peep the links on the left for some low-brow analysis / generic, rambly gushing about each version of Loki I've seen thus far. I'll mark all major spoilers as such, though I do hope you might be inclined to read or watch anything I talk about (ESPECIALLY the comics)!
Perpetually under-construction; will add more as I read more!
Also, as a general note, this is the first (!!) site I've ever made with HTML & CSS & all that jazz. So please excuse any coding errors or weird formatting; I'm pretty sure I've done some real stupid things to make it look like this because I have a super shallow knowledge of most of it. I'm also testing a lot of different things, hence the chaotic-ness. Always learning!
